Penalties of up to ₹250 crore

Under the DPDP Act 2023, failure to implement reasonable security safeguards to prevent a personal data breach can attract a penalty of up to ₹250 crore. Failure to notify a breach and violations of children's data obligations are separate contraventions, each carrying penalties of up to ₹200 crore.
